What Aboard Map keeps about you
Very little. Using the map keeps nothing about you anywhere but your own phone. If you sign up for emails, I keep your email and your sailing.
Aboard Map is made by Sohus Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, number 09369062. Its registered office is 167-169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London W1W 5PF. Sohus Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office.
Write to me about anything on this page at ben@aboardmap.com.
On your phone, and nowhere else
- Your cabin number, your ship and your sailing dates, if you type them in.
- Where you are. Each cabin number you scan, and the blue dot on a port map, are worked out on your phone and never leave it.
- The camera picture when you scan. It's read on your phone and thrown away.
- The maps you save for use with no signal.
They sit in your browser's storage for this site. Clearing that, or deleting the app, removes them.
Counting visits
Vercel, the company that runs the site, counts page visits without cookies and without knowing who you are. The app counts one more thing the same way: that it was opened from a home screen. When you tap a link to book a tour, I count the tap against that link and that day, and nothing about who tapped it. There are no cookies anywhere on the site.
If you sign up for emails
I keep:
- your email address
- your ship, the day you sail and the day you're back
- when you agreed to hear from me, and which version of the app asked
- whether you've unsubscribed
I don't keep your name, your cabin number or anywhere you've been.
I use it to send you emails about your own cruise, which is what you agreed to when you signed up. Your agreement is the legal reason I can keep it, and you can take it back at any time.
Where it's kept
- Neon holds the list, in a database in the United States.
- Resend sends the emails, and keeps your address and sailing so it can. It's in the United States too.
- Vercel runs the site and the sign-up.
- Google runs my email, so anything you write to me is kept there.
Because these companies are in the United States, your address leaves the UK when you sign up.
How long I keep it
Unsubscribing stops the emails straight away. I keep your address marked as unsubscribed, because that's how I make sure you're never emailed again. If you'd rather it went completely, email me and I'll delete it from the list, from the record of when you agreed, and from Resend.
Your rights
You can ask to see what I hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Write to ben@aboardmap.com. If you're unhappy with how I've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Until 10 October 2026 the company named on this page was Immersi. Nothing else changed: the same details, kept the same way, for the same reason.
